Keeping Up With Bangkok

Its not my first time in Bangkok...won't be my last either...

There's something about Bangkok regardless of the political unstability that attracts people from all over the world to go there over and over again...i am not talking about the sex-tourism promoted...its something the city that can't be put into words...mysterious eh...i went there again in November 2009 along with the papa mama shopaholics and my travelbuddy...

Airfare can go as low as RM150 return via AA inclusive of the airport taxes...and there's plenty of hotels in Bangkok to choose from...according to the area...we spent the two nites there in two different hotels but both are in Sukhumvit...i think its the longest road to Bangkok...its also the road that never sleeps...seriously we were up to 5 a.m in the morning and didn't realise the time...as the people were everywhere around...

Spent the first nite in a relatively budget hotel named Hotel Miami but can't remember soi what...the second nite spent in more upscale Mercure Hotel in Soi 22...another lesson learnt for future reference...don't immediately fall for the pictures in the internet as it can be extremely misleading...experienced that with Hotel Miami...one more thing...hotels are everywhere in Bangkok...you can just easily brave in to fly to Bangkok without booking a hotel and find it on foot...the city itself was well connected by the rail system...both skytrain and subway...both of the rail system made one big loop over the city...within the loop you can either take on the bus or the taxi...and insist using the meter...demand if you must...as there are plenty of taxis to choose from...

Halal foods are also easy to find...at least we were lucky there's one halal restaurant in front of the Mercure Hotel and another beside Hotel Miami...massage is a must do in Bangkok...cheap and easy to come by...they open till late at nite...or early morning i might add...Chatuchak is a must go...its the weekend market and was connected by subway that leads directly to the area...bargaining is compulsory...

When we were there...the rail that connected Suvarnabhumi International to the city centre was not yet opened...but i think its opened by now...avoiding airport limo is a must if you are on budget...the best way was to go to the departure hall and take those taxis at the drop off passengers area...it can save you half the budget compared to airport limos/ taxis...not sure how much the airport train though...

Bangkok is a city that never sleeps...we didn't really take the time to really explore the city anyway...just merely go there for relaxation and walking around the city area...maybe next time i should try to explore those areas that i haven't been just yet...there's too many areas of interest...yet i haven't quite finish...given time and of course financial stability...i'll try to keeping up with Bangkok...
