Captivating Kobe

It has been voted by the foreigners as the best city to live in Japan...

One can see why...compared to Osaka and Kyoto, Kobe is unique in its own way...its kinda western a bit but still holds that Japanese feel to it...its also been known as the international city of Japan...foreigners are everywhere...and lots of people who can speak english too...so communication is the least of one's worries...

The city surely came alive at nite...especially in Higashimon Street where dozens of clubs lined up for any takers...free entrance...free drinks up to way expensive entrance fee to the upscale ones...there's a lot of young trendy people too...dunno how to compare it to Tokyo since we didn't have the chance to spare time for Tokyo...but maybe its a gist of what they have in Tokyo...

As well as any other part of Japan...public transportation are reliable...seriously...but it kinda put a big hole in the pocket especially for those whose local country currency are lower than Japanese Yen...shopping also comes in dozens...stretched underneath the train rail along the street...if only one had enough time to explore...more big holes will be made in the pocket...also the bank account...hahaha...

Kobe also has the oldest mosque in Japan (if i am not mistaken) nestled in between buildings but easy enough to find...just a few meters from the mosque was the halal restaurant that serves mid-eastern cuisine and also eat all you can for 1,500 yen per person...phewww...that kind of price can had us eating in Tony Roma's or Chili's in Malaysia...but one has to be realistic as its a foreign country with foreign currency...

Sannomiya seems to be the hang out place of the youngsters in the weekend nites...the square in front of the station was packed with youngsters during nite time...one do wonder what are they doing...but its just a hang out place...so hang out...if the time was enough...a short trip to Port Island will be cool...or just walk to the harbour...feeling the ocean breeze...cool...

There's a lot more one can do in Kobe...but given our short period of time...it was great introduction to Kobe...in short...it was captivating Kobe...
