Wash Eyes In Phuket
Ok fyne...i'm now truly influenced by the visa ad...hence the first photo is actually inspired from the ad Thailand without Baht...hehehe...
Being one of the two most prominent tourist island in South East Asia (the other one is Bali)...Phuket does have something nice to offer (not necessarily on the night life lah)...compared to Bali...Phuket is much more developed especially the roads...and it has lots and lots of hotels and accommodation to choose from...may it be from budget to moderate or to down right luxury...for a very very competitive price too...
One more thing that is great about the first hotel we check in...is that you can check in early without any extra charges given if they have the room ready...i am not sure about other places other than Siem Reap where we had experience of checking in early...but i know for sure that you can't do that in Langkawi...at least not for free...hahaha...the flight landed in Phuket International at about 7.35 a.m...which is actually 20 mins earlier than ETA stated...while we were walking to the arrival zone...there was a lady who were giving away free TRUE sim card that also can be use for Blackberry for 70baht~RM7 for 3 days...cool huh...if one in a group of more than 4 people...do take on the MPV instead of waiting for the van...coz they will wait until the van is full with 8 people then they will depart...otherwise you have to wait...so we took on the MPV...paid 1,000baht for it (for the van is 180baht per person)...then off we go to our first point...Centara Waterfront Suites in Karon Beach...its the 2 bedroom suite apartment for 2,500baht per nite...considering we were in a group of 5...so it was only 500baht~RM52 per person per nite....Karon beach is nice...with its clear water...owh...its dreamy...there was some shops around the area...where one can get a foot massage for as low as 200baht~RM21 per hour...owh demmm...there's also halal restaurant around...so no need to sweat on finding halal food...hehehe...
The next two nites we switched to Kris Residence in Patong...its about 5 mins scooter ride away from the famous Patong beach...and its also has a 2 bedroom suite for the same price as the former apartment we stayed...we rented scooter for 200baht~RM21 per day...fill up the gas full tank for 100baht~RM10...owh and please do go to the proper gas station...the nearest in Patong area is near the Nur Islam Mosque...Esso gas station...there are people selling gasoline by the roadside...it was the steep 40baht~RM4 per bottle which was less than 1 litre...we ride on to Kata Beach for some sunset experience...and it was wonderful...Kata Beach is a bit further than Karon...but it was seriously good...and beware of the police officers doing roadblocks...please have your driving license ready as well as the form that stated you rented the bike...it can save you from a lot unnecessary trouble...that nite we went on to watch Phuket's famous cabaret show...Simon Cabaret...its 800baht~RM82 per person...and it is cool...we thought of going for Phuket Fantasea...but the price was a steep 2,000baht++~RM200++...so i think i might save it for next time...
The next day...as the rest of the group went on for island hopping (which i didn't go since i already went to the same islands last year during Krabi trip)...i took a ride around the island...first up went to Kamala Beach...where they have the Phuket Fantasea...but the place is kinda quite compared to Patong...managed to come across a makcik selling food by the roadside...the makcik was wearing tudung...its a halal food...took my lunch by the roadside next to the Kamala Bay...wahhhh...bestttt...then ride up back to Patong and cross the mountain to go to the other side of the island...first up was Phuket Town...went to some of the museums...the go on again down south to Chalong Bay...then off to Rawai Beach...dem gorgeous weih...then went to the end of the island...the Promthep Cape...it was breathtaking beautiful...sometimes i do wonder...why we never commercialised the end of Semenanjung Malaysia...as it is supposed to be the end of the big mainland of Asia...ermmm...nevermind...took the ride back to Patong...then back to the hotel...it was very tiring...but one very interesting ride for the whole day...that nite we went to Hard Rock Cafe Phuket...which has open air area...and the band play at the open area...cool huh...
For the final nite...we went to spent the nite in Kalim Bay...which is on the north side of Patong...in Orchid Hotel & Spa...really nice small hotel with great view of Kalim Bay (which was only across the street) and also really affordable price...just 650baht~RM67 per nite...there's also a lot of muslim community around the area...so halal food is just easy to come by...we spent the afternoon in Patong Beach...even the beach is at the one of the most developed area of Phuket...but its still very clean and good...Patong Beach is the most happening area...the most happening part is of course Bangla Road...and seriously i don't know why they call it Bangla Road...hahaha...that nite we all are free and easy...and i like to go on for a nite walk around...its cool to see how people from another country go on with their daily life...hehehe...
The final day...managed to do some last minute shopping around the Patong area...i just bought some small souvenirs for my friends back home...sent Cik Hayati...my dad...RyNedInaZora and myself postcards from Phuket...then off we went to the airport...checked in...leave our bags at left luggage then walk to the nearby beach near the airport...spent the day away...until it was time to say our good byes to Phuket...
All in all...Phuket is a very nice island with lots of things to do...its a little wonder why despite the tsunami disaster...people still coming here...coz its really cool...and of course for sure...like my boss said...i also had a good time to wash eyes in Phuket...hehehe...
