Enchanting Khmer

One have to go to Angkor to appreciate its rich Khmer history...

The flight from KL to Siem Reap International Airport via AA took about slightly over 2 hours...as usual...we all bought the promotional tickets...it was less than RM200 return (excluding cambodian airport tax that has to be paid at the airport for USD25)...in Cambodia...USD is their main currency alongside their local currency riel...USD1~riel4,000...kinda easy to do the conversion rate as it is already prefix...

There's no hotels in Angkor area...so the nearest town to Angkor is Siem Reap (where the airport is)...hotels in Siem Reap comes in plenty of stars and price range...all according to own preferences...and budgets...we choose to stay in the Old Town area as it is the place where you can find almost everything you need to find...it also goes the same as if in Indonesia...Cambodia also have the supir thingie around...and you can just choose either to take on van or simply tuk-tuk...the tuk tuk can accomodate 4 people mind you...it will goes around USD15 for the whole day...USD10 if you just choose to go around town...

Tonle Sap lake is just about 20mins away from the town...can be reached by tuk-tuk...and we paid USD10 per person for a boat ride along the floating village in Tonle Sap...its kinda interesting to watch the life of these people in the village...halal food can be found although it is not as common to come across...mostly just been narrowed down to indian food...we also opted for total vegetarian restaurant for a change...local dessert veggie style...really cool...KFC in Cambodia is totally HALAL...no worries...

After long tiring day...at nite we went to the Angkor Night Market in the Old Town area...there's alot of things can be found in the night market...t-shirt for souveniers are incredibly cheap...with good quality cotton...i was totally satisfied...it was 3 pieces for USD5...1 piece for USD2...massage is a must do...unbelievable...USD3 for 1 hour foot massage...also for full body massage...demmm...paintings are also sold around the area...cambodian silk...and lot more items...the rule of the thumb is...BARGAIN...thats all...they also have scheduled apsara dance performance around the night market area...we were lucky enough to watch...it looks so similar to Thailands'...there is an interesting history about both Thai and Cambodian culture...just google it up...it does make an interesting read...

Journey to this part of Cambodia wouldn't be complete without going to Angkor Wat...USD20 for one day pass...Angkor Archaelogical Park is darn huge...we took one full day...but we still haven't managed to even finish 1/5 of the whole park...we were tired out...we just managed to visit the popular ones like Angkor Wat...Angkor Thom...Bayon and the ones within the Bayon complex...we were so famished that we forgotten all about the tomb raider temple...what a shame...

This trip do open up my eyes about lots of things...especially about different kind of living...i kinda like the city...its not that hectic...really easy going city...laid back...the only setback was its just dusty...other than that it was totally nice...as i find its to be an enchanting Khmer...
